With a tree branch sewing thread and a safety pin, I fished with all of the gusto of Bill Dance, even though the fish were only "sun grannies". Later, I moved up to a cane pole and cork bobber, and I thought I had arrived. At 15 dad gave me a Johnson Century spincast reel, and I entered the modern era of fishing.
